This curriculum is a fairly open-and-go plan. You will need to gather materials listed each week, but many are common household items. Everything can be bought at your local grocery store or via Amazon. The curriculum was written as a 4-week unit study; however, you could break each lesson into two parts for shorter time frames lasting about 45 minutes each. In addition, in the "notes" section of every lesson, you'll see extension activities. Depending on how you break up the lessons (1x weekly, 2x weekly, 1.5 hour, or 45 minutes, adding in the extensions, etc.), this curriculum could span 16 weeks. It is flexible in the way you administer it, giving you freedom.

*Understanding the reason for seasonal changes

*Identify solstices and equinoxes

*Recognize cultural similarities and differences in seasonal celebrations

*Mixed-media crafting

*Scientific method and intermediate engineering principles

*Social-emotional regulation techniques

In addition, multiple subjects are covered but the main focus is science and cultural studies. Every lesson does include an art project, poetry, and social-emotional skills. Therefore, this unit plan makes a great enrichment curricula to add to your core or to use this in conjunction with other unit studies to piecemeal a solid base.

This unit was written with ages 9-12 in mind, however, you can adapt it via the spine reading with a textbook for older learners or with numerous picture books for younger learners.

You will notice that there are illustrations, a game, poems, meditations, and science experiments. Everything you need is in the appendices. For the movement portion, you can get creative; however, rather than writing long-winded explanations, you can simply visit our YouTube channel for the pose/movement names. You can learn them first to do with your learners or you can turn on the video and project it. It is your choice.
