Homemade Spaghettios are the Best Kid-Friendly, Easy Lunch!
So let me preface this by saying I am not the cook in my house! However, the mister doesn’t blog and has blessed this mess by allowing me to share here…ha!
I wasn’t really planning on writing this but I posted a picture of our lunch the other day (that the kids helped cook) and then I figured…with how our organization has changed-why not include more kid-friendly lunch and dinner recipes? Especially if they feed those busy, homeschool brains! As many people know, we literally have to cook cheap, filling meals for our family of 9!
But nobody likes those long intros for recipes as thousands of memes decry so I’ll get to it…but real quick…I have to say it. The reason for those long intros is to beef up SEO and get your site seen! So can you do me a favor in exchange for a short intro? Can you share this post??? Ok thanks!
Homemade Spaghettios for Picky Kids!
By the way, we affectionately named them Tonios (since Dad’s name is Tony)!
The ingredients you will need are:
Extra sharp shredded cheddar cheese (1/2 cup)
Stick of butter
Vegetable oil (few drops)
Salt (to taste…we use a lot!)
Fresh or dry basil (to taste)
Paprika (to taste)
Sugar (1 tsp)
Tomato paste (1 small can)
The steps you will need to take to cook this delicacy that is so yummy, nutritious, and cheap :)
Boil pasta rings in water, salt, and oil.
Strain the pasta but keep that water (set to side). We strained the pot of noodles over a large bowl.
In the same pot (since it’s warm), melt the cheddar and butter with the basil. Stir continuously. Slowly, while stirring, add some of the water that the noodles were cooked in that have been sitting in the bowl! You will not use all of the previous water-you are only trying to homogenize the cheddar and butter into a thick, but flowing sauce.
When well-mixed, add the tomato paste. Stir in fresh water. You’ll need to measure based on sight/how thick you want it.
Mix in cooked pasta and let simmer on low for 10-15 minutes.
And that’s it! Super yummy. Let me know what you think. We can’t wait to do them again this week :)
