5 Minute Morning Yoga Routine for Moms

Moms, dads, parents, caregivers…we are all so busy! It can feel like we never have time to do anything, like eat, drink our coffee hot, or binge our favorite show. So how in the world are we supposed to fit in our exercise or relaxation, or our yoga practice?!

First, I encourage us to think of it a little differently. Rather than thinking of our practice as being a full hour, lest it not be “real”, let’s work with what time we have! Shorter increments throughout the day can be more doable and confer the same benefits. Of course, don’t feel like you have to do anything, but if you know that getting a full hour is simply unrealistic, this could be an option for you!

Here’s how to make the most of those five minute yoga sessions!

  1. Set a reminder and timer for yourself via Alexa or Google so that it doesn’t escape you the same way your other reminders do ;)

  2. Start with the area that is sorest or needs the most attention and care. For many parents who spend the night sleeping on their side or hunched over feeding a baby, the shoulders and upper neck tend to be the neediest.

  3. Take advantage of screen or snack time, the Mamaroo or Nugget! You deserve a few guilt-free moments to re-center yourself.

  4. Choose a few songs from this growing playlist to flow to! Allow your body and breath to just be and move.

  5. Utilize an area of a favorite room to decorate and set up with your favorite things for a peaceful vibe.
